The Costa Brava is the coastal area of the province of Girona (Catalonia, Spain) that starts in Blanes and ends in Portbou (France). This coastal strip covers an area of 214 km and is comprised of the Catalan regions of Alt Empordà, Baix Empordà and La Selva.
The beaches of the Costa Brava are characterized by the quality of its waters. Many have been given the Blue Flag, symbol of clean water and free of pollution. Another characteristic feature of the Costa Brava are the small coves or hidden beaches surrounded by vegetation, due to the erosion of the sea on the cliffs.
