Platja de Pals, on the Costa Brava, is a huge 3.5-kilometer stretch of sand that is part of Montgrí Natural Park, Medas Islands and Bajo Ter.
It is perfect both for those who seek to practice sport in the sand and those who want a quiet place to enjoy as a family. In addition, it has a nudist area in Playa Gran, ideal for lovers of naturism.
There is no promenade, but protected dunes and walkways through which we can move. You will also find showers, public restrooms, a tourist information stand, lifeguard stations, car park, access for people with reduced mobility and beach bars where you can have a drink while enjoying the panoramic views.
Sometimes, the winds of Levante and Tramontana cause good conditions for the practice of surfing, windsurfing or kitesurfing, so this beach is an ideal place to practice water sports and sailing.
Platja de Pals is divided into two different parts:
- Grau Beach is the one located farther north and enjoys soft sand and shallow waters, perfect for children. In the northern part of the beach Playa de Pals Golf Club is located, and it is the oldest golf course on the Costa Brava.
- To the south we will find Gran Beach, with rougher sand, and where the depth of the water increases quite fast, so it is not the most appropriate for children.
The Pals Beach is located just 3 kilometers from the urban center of Pals. Arriving is very simple, since we will only have to follow the coastline. The distance from Girona is not very big either, around 45km.
